Biggest example I can think of currently is Quentin Johnston. Every time I watch him he’s constantly running go routes or 8 yard curl routes.

Johnston is not Mike Williams nor Josh Palmer and I have no idea why they are trying to use him like he is.

I keep seeing people talk about Zay Flowers, but the Ravens aren’t running Zay Flowers on go routes the entire game. He’s been getting the ball near the line of scrimmage and getting the RAC.

QJ had some of the best metrics for elusiveness and forced missed tackles in college but they are refusing to actually utilize I’m in a way that’s going to get the most out of his skill set.

Instead it’s “hey, we know this guy doesn’t have the best hands, but let’s put him in a position where almost every catch opportunity he gets is contested.”

I also understand the idea of wanting to attack downfield, but when your QB is running for their lives sometimes quick routes like idk a damn slant or a drag route can be effective at negating a good pash rush.

I watched Philip Rivers and Tom Brady dink and dunk their way down field many times against elite pass rushes.

Last point is Austin Ekeler is most effective out of the backfield as a pass catcher, that’s literally where he’s done a lot of his damage his entire career and he’s basically stopped getting targets (aside from an idiotic slant)

Just some things I wanted to point out that I feel like are little things but it’s causing Herbert a lot more issues.

Another thing too is we use Derius Davis for the same thing it becomes too obvious, either a screen or a jet sweep. I wonder how we would run routes
