I’ve made my first server part list which I plan to upgrade the RAM for when needed and the drives if I need to. Are these parts balanced?

I plan to use TrueNAS Scale with the XCP-ng hypervisor and VMing programs to my laptop.

Storage will be ZFS. I only have < 256GB of data so my two old hard drives with an external HDD backup will be enough (if this works). The SSD will be the OS drive.

How much can this build scale and are there any bottlenecks?

The case, CPU cooler and SSD have already been bought.

Thanks.

That’s a nice case. I already bought my case and I’m glad I’ve got it. I’ve just got to modify a bookshelf so it can fit. It’s not too close to where I sit so the noise might not be an issue.

More drive bays would have been good! I’ll have to get some extra bays to put in my case.

The 2.5" drives are what I already have. I don’t have a lot of storage requirements yet so new HDDs will be for later. Thanks for the tip.
