I bought them both for mixing because I didn’t know which ones were the best for me and it’s still a hard choice.

pros and cons of the dt 770 pro:

+ More detailed bass and sometimes mids

+ Really flat and neutral sound

- Highs are a bit more muddy compared to the dt 990 pro

Pros and cons of the dt 990 pro:

+ Highs are VERY detailed

+ Higher mids are also detailed

+++ Everything sounds clearer (not by too much but it’s a massive plus either way imo)

- The bass is there but way less detailed than with the 770’s

- The horrible v shape in the highs. It’s a known issue but holy it’s genuienly unbearable. Last night my ears were ringing really bad (and still are but not as much) from using the 990 and i’ve never had this issue with the 770 even on full volume.

My advice is: if you really really care about details when mixing, use the dt 990. If you value your hearing and mainly produce edm or other type of music that focuses on bass, use the dt 770.

Also people have been saying that the V shape isn’t that bad and people are exagerating, the fact that my ears were ringing badly for an entire night because of the 990’s is enough proof to say that it’s pretty bad. To be fair i’ve been using the dt 770’s for more time than the 990’s and the 990’s maybe need more time to burn in but after a full day of almost constant playing (without me wearing them most of the time thankfully), the ear piercing issue is still there, but not as bad. Also i want to clarify that i bought the 80 ohm version of the dt 770’s and the 250 ohm version of the 990’s.

I don’t know if i should refund the 770’s or the 990’s, maybe the 990’s still need more time to burn in so ima use them for a few days longer and hope i don’t get hearing damage.

I really want to hear your guys opinions!!!
