Watching Mattison this year and his stats he’s not doing well at all… but in previous years he’s been a great RB when filling in for Cook and there have just been barely any of those flashes really.

But is that cause the O Line are great at pass blocking but just bad at run blocking, so there are minimal gaps to run through?

I know Akers and Chandler have had more promising plays, but is that because elusive backs have an easier time adjusting than a power back?

The reason I ask is cause not a lot of pundits I’ve listened to have mentioned Mattison when talking about the Vikings and I’d expect more people calling for a change outside of fan takes.

Mattison is more of a power back and was a great change of pace for cook who is an elusive back. Mattison at #1 is just simply not good because he rarely makes a successful cut. So if the blocking isn’t perfect from the Oline, he won’t do anything. Elusive backs do better behind our line which is why Akers and chandler are visibly better. Cook was cooked so he wasn’t good anyway.
