    Good Blocks = Blocks that the defense recovers. These are worth way more than blocks that are sent out of bounds or are recovered by the offense.

    This doesn’t consider contesting beyond blocks. Evaluating contesting is extremely messy. Rudy Gobert doesn’t appear on this list but was massively impactful in the regular season, due to his insane rim deterrence and rim contest ability.

    Think of this stat as “How many hugely positive defensive plays did a player make per 100?” It does not tell you how many hugely negative plays a player makes, like committing shooting fouls, or perhaps recklessly gambling for steals.
