As someone who hasn’t read the comics. For me, it’s Omni Man. I didn’t realise it until season 2 but I really felt his absence the first few episodes, and his story was definitely the highlight of season 1 for me. I find his internal conflict quite engaging. We’ve seen plenty of evil superman stories, but I like the idea of an evil superman redemption story. I like that he did the things he did because he felt like it was his duty rather than actually wanting to conquer Earth. Then regretted them afterwards. Also seems like despite having committed atrocities on Earth, he might well be the most morally conscious member of his species. Which is really interesting. There seems to be a bit of a nature car nurture plot emerging with the Viltrumites.

One thing I really love about the show that I also hate as a comic reader is omniman. He’s so good in the show and has so much screen time making him feel like the main character at times. The thing that I don’t like(this is going to sound dumb) is the fact that he’s to good, in the comic omniman was not around for most the events of season 1 and didnt feel like the main character or a necessity to enjoy the comic. The show presents omniman as the hook instead of the rest of characters unlike the comic. As a comic reader I love the other characters more than omniman, so it’s unfortunately when I hear show only people say they don’t care about them and only want omniman, which I don’t blame them, because like I said he was given so much focus and was integral.
