Well, I missed the opportunity to try to reserve an affordable hotel/airbnb/campsite around Kerrville, TX for the total eclipse coming up in April 2024. Thankfully, I live in San Antonio which is only 50 miles away, but I was wondering if anyone in here has travelled for big events in the past and experienced bad traffic as people were moving to observe it. I’m wondering if I will regret trying to travel towards the Hill Country for the eclipse and should just stay home and watch from a nearby park instead.

We spent the night in Nashville for the last one. Watched it during the day, then immediately got in our car to drive home. The four hour drive ended up taking 14 hours and I called off work the next day. It was awful. I’m going to try to stay the night after next time…
