I don’t know what’s been going on with Lutris lately, but I keep getting errors when installing older games that aren’t listed anywhere. For example: I used to be able to install Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams PC edition with all the mods. Worked great. After a while and a factory reset, I tried installing it and I keep getting errors (Specifically a setup.exe error). No idea what happened. It’s a bit of a battle.

If I want to use proton for it and either mount or extract a game ISO, that turns into another thing I have to look up and see if it even works for SteamOS. After a few hours and wondering if it can do either of those, the answer is; I don’t know. Discover won’t install the necessary programs or they seem too sketchy for me to even touch them. The only other thing to do is extract the files in Windows and see if it works in SteamOS or just install it on my PC instead.

I don’t know if there’s any updated instructions around here for using Lutris or something like Bottles (which I’m still figuring out how to install separate executibles. So far it seems like Lutris, without the option to install a program not tied to a service Linux can use), but this is where I’m at with this. I’m not familiar with konsole commands, and even when I try to use the konsole, it doesn’t work. I’ve followed all steps provided by the internet as well. Maybe it’s just not for me.

This isn’t really a question or asking for help. I’ll find a solution eventually or side load a Windows install. It just seems like a lot to just get something working. I get stonewalled for things I can easily do in Windows. Just letting anyone know out there that is looking to install a PC game straight onto the SteamOS. It just isn’t there yet.

As another added note: I don’t have the video or instructions, but if you are looking for the folder where the .exe program you installed through proton? Oh, boy.
