The past few years MPJ has been a breakout candidate as a WR1 but hasn’t been able to get over that hump as he’s finished as the WR79, WR17, and WR20 throughout his career. The talent has been there but mediocre QB play has been the driving force that’s held him back. Going into this season, his outlook wasn’t great due to a rookie AR15 which then turned into playing with a backup QB after AR15 got hurt. In my opinion, Minshew is one of, if not the best, backups in the league and could start on a handful of other QB needy teams so I don’t necessarily see him playing as a downgrade for MPJ but through week 12, MPJ sits at the WR12 in PPR with the following stats:

76 receptions, 111 targets, 784 yards, 3 TDs. He’s currently on pace for 117 receptions 172 targets, 1212 yards, and almost 5 TDs. His career highs are as follows 99 receptions (2022), 141 targets (2022), 1082 yards (2021), and 6 TDs (2021).

In PPR he currently sits as the WR12 and is most likely a low end WR1 in your league. He’s yet to score over 25 points in a game so he doesn’t have the upside as someone like Davante Adams, Puka, DJ Moore, Ja’Marr Chase, or some of the other guys that sit around his ranking. However, he’s only had 1 sub 10 point game this season, meanwhile those guys have all had 3-4 single digit games.

He has a few favorable matchups to end the season so we may see him end up as a top 10 WR. He currently is ahead of guys like DeVonta Smith, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Calvin Ridley, Terry McLaurin, Jaylen Waddle, Amari Cooper, Hollywood Brown, DK Metcalf.

Do you think he’ll end the season as a low end WR1 or fall back down to mid WR2?
