Why is it games are either horror games, OR action games? Why can’t a game have both, atomospheric with remarkably scary corridor shooting, AND times with fast-paced arena-style battles?
Examples I can think of (not recent): DOOM 3 and FEAR.

It’s a lot more difficult to create the sense of horror without the stress of limited resources.
