In week 8, Darren Waller (TE) and Matt Breida (RB) had historic success in terms of their respective market shares of receiving yards for the Giants. Despite leaving the game early with an injury, Waller had over half of his team’s receiving yards (just over 57%). Breida played the whole game and also racked up more than half of his team’s receiving yards (just over 57%). Together, this means these elite fantasy options accounted for more than 114% of the Giants’ air yardage.
Since the offense as a whole was a bit sluggish yesterday (largely due to subpar quarterback play), this is your last chance to get one or both of these league winners on your team. Thankfully, Daniel Jones has been cleared for contact and will likely return to action next week. He’s averaging about 191 passing yards in complete games this season, which may not sound like a lot - but that should be more than enough to sustain both Waller and Breida. Given their elite market shares, we should be able to count on each of these players for around 109 yards on a week-to-week basis. To put that in perspective, that places them well ahead of Stefon Diggs (averaging 93.5 yards/game), the #3 overall WR so far this year in PPR. And we’re talking about the receiving output of a tight end and running back respectively. Breida is sure to tack on at least a few more points in the running game each week.
Breida is clearly a slam dunk at his current price, while the only problem for Waller will be his injury designation. Still, given the long-term rewards, he’s a good trade and stash option for a strong team that’s not worried about making the playoffs.
Let me know in the comments what you’re offering for these studs!
I see Giants WR, I ignore.
