NBA Cup Champions are the team that wins the In-Season Tournament. And could be a different team from the NBA Finals Champion. If it’s the same team, then they are the undisputed NBA champion of the league.
However, if there’s a scenario where the NBA Cup champion and NBA Finals champion are different teams, they should get a chance to face off for the title of the undisputed NBA champion.
EX:
Hornets win the NBA Cup
Celtics win the NBA Finals
Hornets can challenge the Celtics for the championship title in a 3-game series.
This isn’t the 1943 NCAA championship where the NIT and NCAA tournaments involved completely different teams and someone thought it would be great if the two winners faced off against each other. The NBA Cup champion still has the opportunity to win the NBA Championship.
