I can’t believe we have to do this every year, but Shanahan is not the problem. The Niners offense was once again moving the ball at will yesterday. They averaged 8 yards a play, had the highest offensive success rate of any team according to TruMedia (and number that was Top 5 for the season), and the Niners still left some plays on the field, whether by turnovers or drops. This is without their all-world LT and one of the most explosive weapons in the league.

Weirdly, overall, I’ve been more impressed with Purdy these last two games than I have been all season. Unfortunately, he’s had 4 absolutely terrible throws, but he’s starting to show that he absolutely can be more than just another system operator. He needs to improve his decision making and trust the system when he can, but the doom and gloom here is overblown.
