We don’t need a star TE. We shouldn’t spend a 1st round draft pick on a TE.

Obviously, Irv Smith isn’t the answer. We were told he was really good when healthy. Maybe he was, but not here.

Drew Sample was a garbage pick even at the time.

Hayden Hurst was the PERFECT TE for this offense. Not the best in the world, but he did what needed to be done and was clutch when needed most of the time. Above servicable.

What I’m saying is we need a new Hayden Hurst. We hoped Irv Smith would be that guy. A TE who isn’t too expensive, but who can do his job.

We might not “need” a star TE to win a Superbowl, but we’ve seen what a star TE can do for a offense in the NFL. There’s a reason they say a good TE is a QBs best friend. Having another dangerous weapon for Burrow could only help this offense, especially one that can dominate the middle of the field in zone coverage and dominate LBs in man. Can we win it all without a great TE? I’d say we have a decent chance but having one would make us harder to defend defensively and give us someone else to rely on if somebody gets hurt or we go up against a defence with great corners. Teams with good corners have given us trouble when they’re able to double Tee and Chase and having another weapon would help that a lot. Think about last year vs kc, Boyd gets hurt and we suddenly couldn’t get much done on offense, they doubled tee and uno and we didn’t have any other answers. Ppl say Zac’s offense doesn’t feature the TE very much. That’s true but is it bc we’ve average TEs and not one worth featuring? Even still the TEs get targets in this offense and it’s been a weak spot for the last three years. An upgrade at our weak spot sounds nice to me

Absolutely agreed. Bengals TE room is ranked an easy last in the NFL. we just don’t want it to be last anymore.
