First time EV owner here. I purchased my 2023 Ioniq 6 a few weeks ago and I love it so far. But the truth is, the actual purchase and dealership process was terrible. One of the advantages to Tesla’s is arguably the streamlined financing/purchase of the car.
In the last three years, many EV owners have paid at or above MSRP for new EV cars. I guess my question for those of you who have financed a car in the last three years, how was your experience? Do you feel like you got a fair deal? If you have any criticisms about the car buying process for an EV, feel free to share.
The general trend is that EVs are getting cheaper but those of us who purchased one when they were more expensive kind of got the shit end of the stick. Anyways, curious to read about experiences.
Ioniq 6 in Maryland, US.
Limited AWD, list price.
Me: “I have 4.25% financing guaranteed from my credit union.”
Hyundai Dealer: “Hyundai can beat that, let me check…”
Sponge Bob Voice: “20 minutes later”
Hyundai Dealer: “We can do 1.49%.”
Me: “Where do I sign?”
Sponge Bob Voice: “30 minutes later”
Hyundai Dealer: “Here, here, and here, and here is your key fob. The car is on the charger, let’s go out there…”
