Hello:

I recently bought a pre-owned 2023 Toyota. I setup the smartphone app that allows me to view the status of the car. Sometimes when I launch the app, I get the information and vehicle status very quickly.

Other times, it’s impossibly slow. Taking 20+ seconds to load the vehicle data, and then the vehicle data could be several hours old, instead of real-time data.

My question is: Do things speed up if I add service to the AT&T hotspot that was equipped from the factory? I’m wondering if maybe it’s using 3G to communicate with my phone, but the AT&T hotspot would allow for 4G/5G, which would speed things up.

Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance!

No, wifi is disabled while you need to use the app most, besides that it has no effect even when car is running (app is still slow). 40% of the time, the wifi braks down and requires to be disabled / enabled to start working again, the other 40% of the time it simply doesn’t work (may as well be connected to those unreliable xfinity hotspots), the final 20% of the time it’s slow and I wish I have not signed up for a year to get a better deal (felt faster during trial).
