Not sure how many classic gamers we have here, but Lunar: Silver Star Story was ported to iOS back in 2012. The developer started updating the crap out of it a few years back. As of yesterday, you can buy it once and play it across the following platforms with iCloud saves:

  • iPhone
  • iPod Touch
  • iPad
  • Mac (Apple Silicon only, uses iPad version)
  • AppleTV

It’s $10 in the US. While the sequel isn’t available, this version is the definitive version and, hopefully, will be the basis of ports to the Switch, Steam, and more. This version of Lunar is enhanced greatly, pulling from the Saturn, PS1, and PSP releases and allowing you to change graphics, audio, and difficulty, among other settings.

During the 16-bit area, when it came to turn-based JRPGs, there were four that had enough of a following that they could be argued as the best of their genre - Chrono Trigger (SNES), Final Fantasy 6 (SNES), Phantasy Star IV (Genesis), and Lunar (SegaCD).
