Hello,

I have what sounds like a rock in my AC / Heating fan which from my quick research is the blower motor. The fan itself still works fine but is creating a noise that’s definitely not good. It stared after a weekend in the Utah desert but went away for a couple weeks and has now come back.

I believe I need to take the blower motor off to clean it out. My questions are:

  • Is this assumption correct?
  • it doesn’t look to complicated from the video I watched but there’s definitely some tight spaces and hard to access screws. Is this something I could on my own? All I have done before is breaks / rotors and air filters.
  • How much would I expect this to cost to have a shop work on? Basically is it worth the struggle of doing it myself.
  • any tips or nice to have tools if I decide to take this on my own?

Thank you

I did call a couple shops to get a quote. First one said they wouldn’t give a quote but could do an inspection for $100 and go from there. The other said it was tough to quote with the info given so I asked for a quote on replacing the blower motor which he said was $330 of which $140 was parts. Probably as close all I’ll get to a quote without actually bringing the car in
