It’s ok to be wrong. There is a time a place to admit it and fix it. Even Reddit can be right twice a day.

It’s ok to have some confidence or even ego. Reddit(mostly invested/serious players from NA/EU) is indeed not whole player base. But it’s not ok to be overly condescending.

It’s ok to call out bad takes and poke fun with Karthus poetry. But it’s not ok to resort to virulence and malice.

In the end. I hope Phreak and Riot in general don’t stop communicating because doing it puts them under flame when they’re making changes people don’t like. I hope they keep having the thick skin that most other game devs don’t have. Transparency the willingness to learn and correct wrong changes is the dream. A silent Riot that just does whatever without telling the playerbase why would not be flamed as much, but it would also be much worse off for the game and its community.

While we all know league’s commu ith is know for its toxicity let’s not pretend like riot over the years hasn’t had a hand in cultivating it. There is a reason league has such a unique reputation when it comes to its community being among the worst. Riot for a long time was content to just sit on their hands and do absolutely nothing about grieves or chat toxicity at the peak of leagues popularity in the 2010s even though it was a topic brought up constantly by the community because banning potential customers for breaking the tos is bad for business.

Riot went to great lengths to refuse communication and transparency with not just the player base but pros and streamers on many occasions, the people who make/made the fame into the juggernaut it is. They constantly make statements that are probably false amd when faced with proof refuse to double back because it is too difficult to admit when you are wrong I guess.

They condescend regularly even when they ought not to, sure there are situations in which the more rabid people in the community can deserve a bit of sass but rioters have loved acting as though they always know best. It does nothing to dissuade the reputation that the company is up its own ass.

I miss when we had a direct line of communication on the forums and the riot team was much more open and honest then they became at the height of their popularity. Bad changes back then came and went with out the grand standing and shit eating smugness thst they come packaged with now aways. It’s just distasteful.
