I’m noticing an issue in this sub. There are a lot of non mechanics or even non “experienced home/garage diyers” trying to give advice that is nothing but unhelpful at best and actually damaging to a car if followed.

This is not a place to pretend you know stuff. It’s a place to get answers on stuff you do not know. So if you don’t know, don’t answer. These are real people depending on their real car to operate. I just saw someone say use lithium grease after cleaning battery terminals af That’s completely asinine. Don’t do that. If you think that’s a maybe a good idea don’t give advice here until you have gotten some first. Fyi you don’t use lithium grease here because your battery has rubber. Guess what rubber doesn’t like? Lithium grease. It’s petroleum based. Says right on the side of the damn container not to use it or near rubber.

For the record, experienced diyers -you guys are mostly fine and know your limits on what you do or don’t know and add a good dynamic to the sub. You know enough to ask good questions which lead to good conversations/threads. You also know enough to answer a good number if the posts you see here with the right or at least likely/safe solution.

Tl;dr: don’t give advice if you don’t know what you are talking about.
