Hi,

I have a new (used) i9 9900kf. I’m testing it with various stress test tools, and I have a question: what is the normal temperature/frequency range for the cpu?

I have a stock Intel heatsink from an ‘old’ i7 8700.

I have a small undervolt of -50mV, if I do more (e.g. 80mV) the cpu crashes during the stress test. Probably I have a bad CPU :)

I limited the temperature to 85°C using intel-undervolt (Linux system).

Some seconds (half a minute?) after I launch a CPU stress test, the temperature goes to the limit (85°C) and of course it stays there for the full test duration. The frequency stays stable to 4.4/4.5GhZ on all cores.

I know that the Intel heatsink is pretty bad, so I’m assuming this is normal. At the moment I don’t care about it, I think it is normal for it to go at 4.4GhZ at 85°C with the default heatsink.

So, is this expected?

Thanks!

not normal. 9900k is supposed to be 4.8ghz all core with stock speeds. with overclocked its around 5-5.1ghz

something else is going on. check bios settings. reset cmos and see if that fixes it. if not try updating bios.
