We are all familiar with the mushroom filled tunnels that we occasionally find under places we frequent, such as our main base. The natural spread of mushrooms, together with endermens’ help, causes hundreds of mushrooms to fill these tunnels over time. So lets make it have an effect on our gameplay.

I suggest a mob, maybe a rat or bug, that spawns in areas with minimum number of mushrooms, that does… something. Maybe a noise, maybe leaves dropping, something that is both annoying and useful for something (because more game mechanic interactions are always better).

It would also add a much needed mob to the almost barren mushroom isles, and to the actually barren nether roof (In java, that is, sorry bedrock).

This would incentivize players with permanent bases to dig up and find these tunnels, which is something we all should be doing anyways for mob farm efficiency, but I digress.

Also, we could have brown and red variant, since people do love them variants.

No, I don’t expect them to actually add this. I just thought the idea was neat.

It seems I overestimated the amount of hours the average player stays in one base. When given enough time, endermen pick up and place mushrooms over all the tunnels under your base, which in turn spread all over the tunnels. So, when you find a new tunnel under a base you have spent several hundreds of hours in, you find it filled with mushrooms.

I suspect this is not commonplace, from your reaction.
