I asked the question about worst franchise decisions and cutting Peyton was mentioned a lot. A lot of comments were made about how his success in Denver proved it was the wrong decision but I fail to see how. They were completely different teams. Denver was filled with Young talent on both sides of the ball and were able to create an offense that maximized Peyton’s strengths while masking his weaknesses. They also had a defense that could match their offense.

Meanwhile we lacked talent at just about every position. Our defense was awful, TY and Reggie were cool but the weapons Peyton had in Denver was like a dream team of talent. Most importantly, the offensive line. If those offensive lines led a 6’5 250 pound freak of an athlete into an early retirement, I can’t imagine what they would have done to a 36 year old Peyton coming off a career threatening injury.

Nope. Cutting him did him a favor. Nobody should be upset, as upsetting as it was.
