Hey everyone!
I’ve been blown away by Wemby along with everyone else and am always fascinated by Pop/RC’s leadership of the franchise. I’m wondering, now that we’ve seen a bit of Victor, how you think they’ll manage the 5 ADDITIONAL 1st round picks they’ve accumulated over the next few years. 9 total firsts over the next 4 years. There are 2 potential high lottery picks imo: Spurs 24 and Bulls 25. Raptors and Hawks I would say are mid round picks.

So 2 questions:

- What is THE most complementary type of player to pair with Wemby?

- And how strongly does the Spurs organization feel about drafting and developing guys through their system - would they prefer to draft a player or trade for someone whose skills are more fully developed since Victor is ready to compete now?

Players to complement Wemby:

Skill set - passing/vision/creativity. guard or wing defense. Provides some floor spacing.

Josh Giddey - It’s no secret that OKC won’t be able to afford to keep all of their young studs. Zach Lowe and Windhorst have suggested that maybe Giddey fits the least next to Shai of the guys who will be eligible for big extensions at the end of their rookie deals. Giddey is a gigantic pass first point guard who can make plays on the defensive end, push the ball and finish. He provides enough spacing to keep the defense honest and let Victor do his thing in the paint. He plays the role currently occupied by Sochan on a muuuuch higher level (and I love Sochan). This is my personal favorite pairing and we know how the thunder feel about draft equity…

Pascal Siakam - he’s 29. Do we really think he’s going to fall off a cliff over the next 3-5 years? He may come at a discount because of the overlapping skillset he has with new franchise cornerstone scottie barnes who is balling. Siakam is an all-nba frontcourt dream pairing with wemby. He runs the break, playmakes and has championship pedigree.

TJ McConnell - Bill Simmons suggested this one and it’s a great call. Shouldn’t cost more than a 2nd or 2 and he can get Vic the ball in the right places. This isn’t a foundational piece, though.

Anfernee Simons - The Blazers are tanking and their backcourt of the future is set as Scoot and Sharpe. Simons is a volume 3pt shooter with crazy bounce. He doesn’t play defense, but he’ll be available for cheap and would be a nice pairing with Victor.

Nicola Vucevic - Talk about cheap. Pop wants Victor playing the 4. Why not pair him with a playmaking big who spaces the floor. He plays terrible defense, but Victor is a DPOY candidate next to him.

We need a bigger PG who can run an offense, play defense, shoot 3s and be a threat to score as a third option behind Wemby and Vassell. Collier, Walter or Proctor could really be that and we likely can get 2 of them in the draft
