As a Christmas present this year, I am taking my husband to Kansas City (we live in Charleston, SC) to see the Chiefs/Eagles game as they are his favorite two teams and the Super Bowl was out of reach for us. I went to Penn State so I’m used to big college games but this will be the first NFL game that either of us has been to and we couldn’t be more excited! However, this will be our first time in Kansas City as well so I had some questions and any help that you guys could provide would be great!
For reference, we are arriving Monday morning (11/20) and leaving Wednesday evening (11/22) and staying at the Hotel Kansas City which sounds like it’s by the power and light district?
Do we need to rent a car or is there enough around our hotel to walk to or take Uber/cabs to? Including the game, is the stadium far from there?
We are sitting in the club level of the stadium, any info on how that works or what to be aware of there? Any good food or drink recommendations at the stadium that are special?
What is the tailgating situation like, obviously we can’t host one but we can contribute, do people like to hang out with newbie travelers?
We will have the full day Tuesday in town to see things and most of the day Wednesday, what are some must do things that you would recommend or cool places to eat?
Thank you all in advance for any help!

There’s nothing around the stadium, so either rent a car or schedule an Uber far in advance- it’s six miles from downtown, and that stretch can back up for hours if you go at the wrong time.
You can easily make a couple of fun days around downtown, the River Market, Crossroads, and Union Station without a car, but KC is so commuter-heavy and the airport is so far from both downtown and the stadium that I would rent if I was you.
Check out the wiki for BBQ recommendations. For bars I’d recommend places like Swordfish Tom’s, Mercury Room if you want a photo opp of downtown, Panther’s Place, King G, and Jim’s.
