Even with a great game from Dobbs last week, I’m still on the train that we should take a stab at QB in the first round next year. It’s looking possible we could be back half of the first last year, which means we’re very unlikely to get one of the “sure-fire” hits. I see a lot of people talking about getting guys like Penix, Nix, or McCarthy if we miss at the top.

My opinion? We should take a shot at Jayden Daniels. I’m frankly shocked nobody has brought his name up. I’ve watched a lot of him this year as a SEC football fan, and he’s been tremendous. LSU is really losing games because of terrible defense.

His rushing upside is enormous as shown with multiple examples of 50+ yard TD runs and 200+ yard rushing games. His deep ball accuracy is extremely impressive, his decision-making in his second year at LSU has improved tremendously, and he has decent size (probably needs a few more pounds) to operate in the NFL. I think he would do very well sitting behind a guy like Dobbs next year if we don’t resign Kirk as they fit an archetype of capable pushing the ball downfield while also having escapability.

Dobbs isn’t a good QB so he’s not a solution at QB. I wouldn’t mind drafting a QB and having them sit behind Kirk for a few years
