Hello!

So I live in an area in EU with no fiber to the home option. I have a 50 mbps connection and I get about 33 mbps speed. My latency shows 25 ms on fast.com unloaded, 35 loaded.

However on the wave bufferbloat tester, I get an F grade. I’ve been having some terrible performance in gaming online lately so I’ve been thinking of getting a new router with better QOS. My Isp’s provided router doesn’t have QOS settings in the interface.

Would I see any noticeable improvement with a new router or via setting up OpenWRT or would it be a waste of time?

You can configure a router to prioritize small packets (gaming) even if you’re in a high upload or download scenario. I have 120/10 and my son has single digits pings in Fortnite even if I’m doing a video call and screen sharing and my other kid is watching YouTube . This is one way to QoS.
