Your 2023 Finalists.

It’s ATP Finals season, which means it’s time for our annual blue carpet! Traditionally (up to 2018), ATP Finalists have been wearing uniform suits and ties. Handsome? For sure. But in terms of stylistic diversity, there is none to be had.

Our finalists will always look great in a classic two-piece, but it restricts individual fashion sense and prevents the players from being able to show off their style. Don’t expect much from our players though, most of them aren’t exactly style icons.

If you’re a fan of fashion, it’s a good thing that the ATP removed any sort of uniform requirement for the blue carpet. Players can wear anything, from streetwear to crazy designer pieces. This is also a good thing for their sponsors, as now they can market their lines via the player fits.

That’s enough of that though, let’s move on to the drip analysis.

2018 ATP Finalists. Handsome, but you don’t get any real fashion personality coming through the screen.

1 and 2: Djokovic/Alcaraz

Style: Activewear

Lego Haircut, 13+ y.o. Fit.

Varsity jackets are a very trendy outfit on the market, hitting their stride as the deep winter essentials become popular on the market around late November - February.

But seriously, WHY ARE THEY WEARING VARSITY JACKETS TO A CARPET EVENT??? Djokovic looks like he just upsized from a junior racket, and Alcaraz is one inch away from a crop top varsity jacket. PLEASE CARLOS, TUCK IN YOUR SHIRT. Carpet walks at a prestigious event like Nitto is supposed to be a showcase of fashion, and not your jock bro’s idgaf 4pm fit.

quit playing bruhhh 😭

On a more serious note, I think on a marketing/individual piece level, the jackets on their own are HOT. The colors are clean, and overall a good way to market a trendy winter piece. Fit for a carpet event? Probably not, but the jackets are fire. Rounding off their outfits are the classic white sneakers and jeans (Alcaraz’s black jeans give a bit more contrast) to showcase the star of the show, the varsity jacket.

Carlos’s jacket is a 2024 Louis Vuitton piece.

Djokovic accessorizes well with a yellow watch.

Numero 3: Medvedev

Style: Basic Casual Streetwear

oh my poor sweet octopus

Dear Medvedev, you are never beating the “works in IT” allegations. Medvedev wears a winter jacket (almost a puffer jacket) layered on top of a zip-up cardigan and jeans a shade darker. For accessories, he wears a casual watch with a blue strap (points, I like this). White sneakers end off the fit.

This outfit suffers from the same problem that Nole and Carlitos suffer from: It’s just not carpet enough. Fundamentally, there are no issues with the fit, but is it really carpet?

Anyways, I love this fit because it screams Medvedev.

Numero Quatro: Jannik Sinner

Style: Post-Minimalism 🔥

Sinner’s 2023 USO Flex

Not too long ago we saw Jannik Sinner take to the Slams sporting a Gucci bag, proving why Italians are probably way better at fashion than the rest of us. So how did our favorite carrot pull up to the carpet event?

Well, it’s certainly not carpet, but this outfit is CLEAN. A cardigan worn over a clean white tee, navy dress pants, and white sneakers.

Lately, we’ve been seeing a rise in these types of outfits, where logos, prints, and street aesthetics are foregone in favor of clean, modular pieces that focus on silhouettes and neutral colors.

Post-minimalism.

So yes, Sinner’s fit suffers from the same problems as the previous three, but by far it is the cleanest and shows that Jannik does know how to pair pieces.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a fit analysis on Instagram king Rublev, homelesscore Tsitisipas (istg get this man some accessories), YSL Darth Zverat, and debutant Rune.
