for disclaimer, I’m kinda old lol

I only watched gameplay videos and thought that it’s pretty cool to basically able to build anything

when I open I was bombarded with launcher options and marketplace and “Try this new content!” or “Try this skin” or “Multiplayer blah blah”

I have no idea what to do

I don’t even know the difference between “Minecraft for Windows” and “Minecraft Java Edition”

is there a way to just skip all the content bombardment and go straight to playing? I just want to play alone and be familiar with the game

like making a shortcut straight to the game’s .exe file instead of using launcher or something to lessen the “ads” ?

Bedrock is on all platforms. Java is PC exclusive. Bedrock allows cross play, Java foes not. Theres a few differences in mechanics and the mods available. Bedrock is renowned for its bugs, but Java has its share too.

I started late too and I just got straight into single player. I died the first night and my base was crap, but it was just to get a feel of the game. Java has a crafting tip box in the top right of the scereen when you find new items. Bedrock may be the same. When you open the inventory, press the green book icon to find discovered recipes rather than trying to figure it out.

Alternatively, go into creative and just build. Get a feel for the blocks and get into designing something.

I’d also suggest looking at some youtube guides. Pixlriffs and Wattles are two I recommend, but both are java players (different mechanics). The minecraft wiki is a very useful resource too as the game doesn’t really give tips on what to do or where to find things.
