Random Shaedon thought otd: I’ve been thinking about his performance so far this season, how good he’s looked in pretty much situation and aspect of the game. But I can’t help but notice these games where he plays like 40 minutes and only get up 12 shots.
He could easily find a shot every possession down the floor, but he never hogs or stops the ball. I really think he could be averaging close to 25ppg rn if he just took an extra shot per quarter. He seems fine with not touching the ball for a few possessions in a row.
I think if anything, his ‘nonchalantness’ is a good thing. He will rise up bringing other players with him, as opposed to just fast tracking his own development at the sake of his teammates’s. And once he learns how good he can actually be, I have no doubt he’ll ramp up the shot volume.
But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to see a week of games where he just stops playing team basketball completely and selfishly tries to get a shot off every time down the court.
I love that he can do all this stuff but seems to be trying to use it all wisely. He makes good decisions and is unselfish. Last night he was getting Ayton involved with perfect bounce passes on plays he probably could have gotten fouled and maybe scored himself. Really fun to watch. Seems like he can only get better too.
