Is non-existent. Waited all last year to see a glimpse of them being able to play together, understood it takes time to mesh, kept waiting, never saw it. And this year looks even worse somehow, just two dudes trading off pounding the ball then forcing a drive or 3 point heave. It’s now safe to say these guys are not a good combination together, and never will be.
Garland and Mobley are our future, I don’t care what anyone says about Garland he is a legitimate rare point guard who can facilitate and score even if he has serious flaws in defending and clutch scoring. I think he needs a Klay type of SG who doesn’t need the ball in his hands at all times to be effective like Mitchell. He needs a dude that moves off ball, ready and happy to catch and shoot, happy to pass back to Garland instead of hunting a score every time the ball touches his hands, and can defend at a respectable level. I don’t blame the FO for taking a chance on Mitchell, it was worth a try because a scoring talent like him isn’t coming to Cleveland for fun. But sometimes talents don’t mesh well and this is one of those times.
At this point I’m just riding out the year hoping the FO can get something back from Mitchell before he simply dips out because if we don’t and we gave up the future for a rental of a high volume scorer that won us a bunch of regular season games by shooting 30 times a night but completely stuffed the growth and development of our two young cornerstone players, this will go down as an all-time mistake.
Some of us aren’t.
Mitchell is a very good player. Could probably help put a verteran team over the top to win a championship.
But anyone who thinks he was worth the haul we gave up for him at this point in our development cycle, then you are just delusional.
