It’s amazing how many people on here have incredibly short memories.
In the off-season just gone, this sub was in a pit of despair because it appeared our coaching options were limited to Charles Lee or Kevin Ollie. There were daily (if not hourly) posts about how the restoration was all for nothing and we were never going anywhere. Borderline end of days rhetoric.
Then, out of nowhere, Tom Gores opens the chequebook and signs a winning coach to really establish a culture and provide support to the youngest team in the league. Everyone was overjoyed and excited for what it could all mean down the track.
Fast forward to present day where the start to the season has been brutal due to the sheer number of injuries and arguably poor officiating (example - the Bucks being coached back into the game by the refs). Now the reactions have done a complete 180 and people are calling for Monty Williams head or wanting to trade Jaden Ivey for a sUpErStAr (like they’re just available for cents on the dollar). It’s been 11 games!
I love basketball and feel the passion from a lot of you but there’s also some extremely delusional takes on here. Real life is not 2K and GMs can’t just adjust the settings or sliders to get the results they want.
People also complain about players not wanting to come to Detroit but when the fanbase is this rabid and hostile, is it any wonder? Miss a couple shots or make a few turnovers and the so-called supporters will throw you overboard without blinking. Doesn’t really scream “Detroit vs Everybody” when you’re against your own team!
Support the squad, weather the storm, reap the reward when it all comes to fruition. Don’t whine like a spoilt child and then celebrate when we do make noise in the playoffs.
