What is a good watch kit that is not Chinese? This would be for battery replacement. I think I can get away with needle nose pliers but I do have low profile minimalist watches that have a slot for the back case.

Just buy the individual tools you need. Bergeon and Horotec are quality brands. To change a battery, you’ll need a tool to open the particular type of case back, and maybe a plastic spudger to pop the battery out.
