The fact that an obscure mascot platformer about an anthro punching kangaroo was that savage to a series of overrated, M-rated AAA shooters really demonstrates how much none of us care about M-rated, gritty realistic games anymore. And on the contrary, we just want more colorful, mascot-like games made with smaller budgets, more stylized graphics, and much more aimed at kids than adults, like Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, and especially Kao the Kangaroo.

Like, with cartoon mascots aimed at kids, one look at them and you’ll instantaneously recognize them, even at their most obscure like Kao the Kangaroo. With soldiers in an FPS like Call of Duty, though, you’re more likely to recognize and care about their guns and their diverse playstyles, than you would have any of these bland, generic, faceless soldiers wielding them.
