Some of the custom cars at SEMA must cost well in excess of 6 figures to build. I’m just wondering who sponsors these cars? Are they just “trophies” for some rich guys? I don’t get how building and showcasing these cars makes business sense. Someone enlighten me please.

Not every car at SEMA is built just for the show. The majority are existing cars that are invited to be in some manufacturer’s booth and will typically receive something in exchange like product or whatever.

There are hundreds of cars on display, inside and out, and there are cars specially built for the show. But, those cars aren’t a fireworks display/one-time use…they can be sold, driven, used for future marketing efforts after the show.
