Picked up Alan Wake: Remastered a few weeks back when it was on sale after hearing so many good things about the game. I was so excited to start it.
I’ve put a good handful of hours in, got through the first chapter and… I’m struggling to enjoy the game.
While I know it’s a mystery on what is actually going on - it’s so convoluted that it seems too hard to care? Like, I’m so lost on the story that I am not eager to find out more.
The gameplay seems a little repetitive as well. The ghost guys just seem like the same dude over and over again. They are also not enemies you can avoid or run from as the “run” mechanic is a little wonky. Anytime I see a light for protection it blows out as I get there. Just shine your flashlight and shoot at them until you run out of ammo.
I’m stuck at getting to Lover’s Peak as I just get ambushed and killed over and over because I don’t have enough ammo to kill everyone and can’t run to the light before they (easily) outrun me.
Anyone else bummed like me?
AW2 fixes the issue of having less enemies usually, but it has a lot more jankier combat. Although it kind of fits better for the game.
