So here we are, sitting at 5-5 atop of the worst division in football and a regime that has basically done nothing but take 1 step forward, 2 steps back over a season and a half of football. We’re cash strapped, tied to bad contracts with ridiculous dead money. An owner who appears asleep at the wheel, have been told by a pretty reliable source she spends most of her days on her horse farm in Kentucky and is owner in name only these days. Loomis practically runs the show and he has a job for life due to his inner circle connection/succession plan. Loomis goes on WWL almost weekly for his radio show and doubles down to the point where I’ve started calling him Captain Double Down. All of this mediocrity over a season and a half and he continues to state how the team is on the cusp or close. Loomis is just completely delusional if that is the conclusions he is drawing both privately and publicly.

We signed Andy Dalton 2.0 and lit 150mil on fire and he’s every bit as awful once you start breaking down the film, not seeing wide open receivers has a really bad case of happy feet. He defaults to the check down before WR’s routes finish developing. A front 7 that looks old and slow, Granderson and Bresee seems to be the only bright spots in the front 7 thus far. A defense that has also regressed over the past 5 or so weeks and didn’t show up the 1st half of games over the past month.

An erratic OC who has been bad for a season in a half as the playcaller. Just when you think he’s figured it out, he calls a stinker of a game like against the Vikings. Taysom Hill goes from a focal point to an after thought. Still calling deep passes on 3rd and short, still calling too many running plays on 2nd and 10 and just overall, very weird behaviors with also predictable tendencies that the average fan can see, let alone how easy it is to see for opposing defensive staffs that get paid to attack this offense. This is an offense that hasn’t scored an opening drive touchdown all year long.

We have a head coach who overall, is one of the worst to ever do it record wise. The only thing he’s consistent at is being consistently inconsistent. 10 weeks into a season and he’s still looking for answers on how to get his team going. His team lacks discipline, there is procedure penalties 5-10 times per game outside of the game against the Bears. Dennis Allen has the same talking points after every game, looks lost as a head coach.

This is just mildly frustrating because there is talent on this team but you can’t do much with it when you have a horrible head coach and a front office where there seems to be 0 accountability when people have jobs for life.

I agree with everything whole heartedly, until we get to the very end.

This team has dashes of talent here and there. But we are not talented.

Our offensive line is bad. Really bad.

Our defensive line is also bad. We have no pass rush and now we can’t stop the run either.

And as you pointed out our QB bad is very bad.

When these three components are bad, you don’t have talent in the right places.

Fantastic post and you hit every point spot on. We’re in for some more dark years. It was fun while it lasted.

    I’m sorry.

As a Raiders fan, we went through all of this with DC. The maddening flashes of brilliance in between displays of absolute cowardice and head-scratching inability to do anything to win a game.

Half our sub still wants him back, but we never had a Brees, at least in the past 20 years, for contrast.

He’s like the lights in Christmas Vacation. So bright and then, WTF? You just keep hoping someone finds the switch.
