What could cause a weaker crank apart from a weak battery?

03 Toyota Matrix 1.8L. Crank is weak when starting the car. The battery is a few years old. Changed the battery to a brand new one with 650 cold crank amps. The car starts but the crank still feels weaker than before. What are some other possibilities? Starter? Thanks
