I have a strange theory (not really a theory since I have no evidence) that Jay Gatsby planned to have Nick move into his house next door. The only real “Evidence” I have is that Gatsby could have had some control over his $80 a month rent. Like how did nobody move into that cottage before Nick??? It was in one of the nicest areas and was pretty affordable! I know that was wordy but bear with me I just put this together 😭

Edit: also you don’t think super stalker Gatsby wouldn’t have had some clue that a relative of Daisy was living in New York.

    Did you happen to see the Great Gatsby musical that played this past month at Papermill Playhouse, NJ?

    !They outright say that Gatsby organized for Nick to come live next door, because he’s Daisy’s cousin and he knew he could manipulate him into introducing them. I don’t hate the concept of that theory, but I hate how they made it explicit. They got a lot wrong in that production.!<
