My hot take is that instead of Devonta Smith, we should have drafted Micah Parsons or moved up a spot for Pat Surtain. I think either of those guys do more for our defense than Devonta now does for our offense, and I love Smitty.
I understand there was no way to know we’d be getting AJ, but Micah/PS2 could have been franchise cornerstones.
You’re forgetting that Parsons was strictly a MLB coming out of college. If it wasn’t for Dan Quinn, he would probably still be a MLB. Trust and believe if people knew he could play edge like this, he would’ve been a top 3 pick so you can’t even call that a hot take because nobody knew what Parsons was going to be. Devonta has consistently come up huge in the clutch for us and he’s only getting better. If you only watched Philly games you wouldn’t even know who Parsons is lmao dude has 1 pressure in 4 games against us, he disappears against top OTs.
The obvious answer is they should have taken Justin Jefferson over Jalen Reagor the year before. Then they could have taken Micah Parsons freely without needing Devontae. With Parsons they would not have needed Hassan Reddick, and they could have used that FA money on a player of your choice.
I was going to say this isn’t a hot take but man it’s gotten people riled.
Yes Smitty is a good player and we needed a WR. But if you could do a redraft we would absolutely take Micah, he’s a gamebreaking player
Our offense wouldn’t be anywhere near as good as it is if we didn’t have Smith to compliment AJ. And hurts first full year starting Smitty was his only reliable option while he was still a rookie… Your take only makes sense as our team is of now, not back then. Hurts would’ve been throwing to Reagor and Quez and looking a lot worse than he was. Smitty has also had countless catches that propelled our offense in clutch moments
So FOH with that bitchass take, and don’t talk about smitty before washing your mouth out with soap
That Jalen Hurts is a good quarterback not a great one.
He’ll be in the argument for top ten but ultimately there’s a reason he was a 2nd round pick and last year is going to be seen as more an exception to the rule for him, more of a flash in the pan.
He’ll be undeniably a starter in the NFL but end of the day he won’t be an MVP level quarterback again. If it wasn’t for having a top OL, two #1 WRs, and a Top 5 TE he’d have mediocre stats and we would be talking about if he should get a bridge or if we should draft someone this year instead of sitting there with a quarter billion dollar quarterback.
Once we lose Smith and some of these lineman and replace them with lesser talents we’re going to enter an ugly era of constantly being on the fence about Hurts and what we should do with him and that contract.
My hot take is that last years team didn’t have a story. I didn’t connect with them as much though I always love the team and want them to win. This years team has the juice and the vibes and I’m all in
