I keep coming across this stat but can’t know how it’s calculated or what it’s truly measuring.

Regardless, I’ll grant that some of his turnovers might be bad luck. I’ll also concede not every turnover has the same impact on the outcome of the game. I’ll even defend that some aren’t a big deal or his fault. However a lot have been him flat out making mistakes that are causing the team to lose.

The unfortunate reality is he has made some really bad decisions which have heavily influenced the outcome of games towards losing.

If he only had 5 interceptions/fumbles but they were all near the end of the game with the defense getting a TD resulting in losing, would people be out here defending him with this stat? Or would they be saying, “he can’t make those plays.”

My guess is the second. To that point, we’ve seen him make some really bad turnovers that may not be as obvious or direct game changers but are still screwing up the game. This is what people (media, fans, haters) are keying in on.

Add to all of it that it’s nothing particularly new (he’s typically near the top the league in turnovers, so it’s easy to point to over the last X seasons) but the outcomes are now more often losses with far fewer points being scored. It makes the whole problem impossible to gloss over or sweep under the rug.

Some of it is bad luck but not all of it and if you know you have bad luck, then stop adding to your risk profile.
