Well Tepper is starting to face way more criticism this year so maybe he’ll back down a bit this off season.
Someone posted an article yesterday about his wife being heavily involved in the decision to pick Bryce, and the article (posted right after the draft) said that she deserves the credit for how the season goes, the assumption being it wouldn’t go like this lol.
But maybe tepper will realize his role on the team is to be the billionaire who funds the Panthers, delegates to the professionals, and stays in his fuckin booth.
To be fair, there wasn’t a team farther down on its luck than the Texans just a short while ago. Owner hiring a snake oil evangelist pastor to make football decisions. Clueless coach playing at GM. A Qb with well, you know.
Point is, this is the nfl. Things can turn around rather quickly for anyone not named the Cleveland Browns.
Best I can say is this. The NFL has by far the greatest parity and the most sudden changes of any professional sports league. Tua went from looking like a dud to being an MVP candidate with Tyreek. The Jaguars went from being a dumpster fire with a bust QB to being a legitimate threat in the playoffs. At any given point, most teams are a spark away from making noise. All it takes is one smash hit and the Panthers could be back in it. Or they could linger at the bottom of the pile for a decade. Football is weird like that.
Tepper is already 66 years old, and it’s unlikely we discover the key to immortality before he kicks the bucket. Therefore, at some point, our team will be good.
I got nuttin.
idk… it’s just a game form of entertainment and has no bearing on the real world, fuck it?
A rookie qb and cap space are the best ways to win a superbowl if you don’t have a sure fire hall of fame qb.
The worse case scenario is always paying the wrong guys. The second worst is having a qb/coach combo that is good enough to get to the playoffs but bad enough to not make actual noise. As much as everyone here says they miss 2015 they aren’t acknowledging that Ron is most likely the reason our SB window was so small and probably wouldn’t have existed if Kelvin didn’t get hurt in the preseason. I think he would’ve rolled him out like he did with every vet. The amount of rookies he didn’t give the snaps to was insane.
Last bright note, there are tons of examples of qb/hc’s with bounce back year 2s.
