Maybe nothing, but did an NBA lineup search of 5-man lineups that have played 30+ minutes together across the NBA so far this season and filtered for lineups that are better than league average in offensive rating but worse than league average in defensive rating. Then flipped the search for worse than league average in offensive rating and better than league average in defensive rating.

8 of the 11 lineups that were better than league average on offense but worse than league average on defense had a positive net rating

10 of the 25 lineups that were better than league average on defense but worse than league average on offense had a positive net rating.

It’s an offense driven league and if we’re really trying to turn a corner and get some wins then we need to get an offensive focused lineup out there and find out how to improve the defense from there. Not the other way around.

Got a young roster and we want to muddy up games and play half court offense. We should be getting up and down the court and trying to outscore teams. I don’t the get the philosophy of the team. I get a young team needs to play defense but that usually comes when you get your teeth kicked in in important games. We’re trying to instill a winning culture but you can’t jump from the bottom to the top. Let the kids play and make mistakes then build as they go.
