Hi all,

It’ll be a few days before I can go to the store to get help, and the online help wasn’t, well, helpful, so I’m hoping someone else has had this issue and can provide a fix.

Three times in the last week I’ve had someone send me a text message with a picture, and while I can see the words and that there was a picture included, the message isn’t on my phone when I go back to look later. I’ve never had this problem before, and I didn’t change any settings or upgrade my iOS before this issue occurred. In one instance the phone was right next to my watch, but in the other two my phone was in another location. (Edited to add: I can see all subsequent messages on the same text thread on my phone, even if they’re sent within minutes of the orginal picture text that didn’t come through.)

I have an iPhone XR and an Apple Watch SE2 with cell data activated.

What I’ve tried: updating iOS, turning iMessage on and off, restarting phone and watch, liking the picture in question on the watch, marking the text in question as unread on my watch. No changes.

Anyone else encountering the same issue and/or know how to fix it? Thanks!
