Just wanted to make a quick post thanking Framework for making a repairable laptop.

At the airport a few days ago while going through security I fumbled mine (13" 12th gen i5) while it was in its soft Incase sleeve and it landed corner-down on the hard floor. Took it out and it was bent pretty bad, maybe 1/4" from flat in the top left corner. I was surprised it still worked totally fine, screen opened smoothly, but it looked pretty weird.

I figured I’d give a try at fixing it by following the bottom case and top case repair guides to strip it down, and straightened out both cases and the input cover mostly by hand and using some pliers (with paper to protect the finish from scratches) in the corner that was worst.

Amazingly, after putting it back together it looks pretty good! A small ding on the top cover to remind me to be more careful and that’s it. Total cost: $0, 1 hour of time.

So thanks Framework, you have helped save me money and reduced e-waste. If this was a Mac I would have been without my laptop for however long it took it to fix it, plus it would have been expensive to fix if not a total write-off.

    Nice!

Yeah, stories like this are exactly why we own two Framework laptops.

I remember the one of cons that Dave2D told in his latest Framework’s review about how Framework laptop feels cheap because of the wobble

So, after your story I think only because of this wobble your laptop survived. If it had been tightly assembled like Mac it would have been much more damaged for sure

    Thanks for sharing!

    Amazing :DDD

Easy repairs like this further solidify that we made the damn right choice of laptop manufacturer.

    Best $1064.00 I will have ever spent ( •̀ ω •́ )✧
