First of all when I’m in an even slightly dark room I can slide my finger across the screen like 50 times and it doesn’t disable. It apparently has to be pixel perfect or some bullshit. Most of the time I just end up turning on a light which I guess disables it.
Second, it doesn’t fucking work to stop my phone from trying to do emergency calls while the phone is in my pocket. It is inconvenient as fuck while still failing at its literal one job.
I have turned it off in the past but I find my phone will be a lot worse about doing things in my pocket at work and it isn’t worth the tradeoff. I also don’t remember my phone being this garbage until the last 6 months or so.
I don’t think any other phone I’ve ever had Samsung or Apple, has been this garbage. I’m almost at the point where I just get a new phone, and if I do it’s definitely not going to be a Samsung device.
Same thing happens on my A71. I get so frustrated, too. I have fingerprint lock on my phone. I’ll go to unlock it, and it tells me that. I gave up on trying to swipe up to unlock because it never works. I hit the lock button on the side and try my fingerprint again until it eventually unlocks the screen vs. popping up that stupid message. I’ve had it a little over 2 years, and I think 75% of that time it has done this to me.
Sounds like your phone hardware failing. Sensor failure can happen
