First, this post isn’t about whether you can tell the difference nor anything technical other than the complaint is about availability of something with a technical difference.
Second, this post is about the Apple Music offering so of Qobuz or Tidal are different, that would be good to know.
I was REALLY looking forward to Red/Blue Super Deluxe because I wanted a 96/24 copy of the songs on these albums along with A Day In The Life acoustic guitar intro.
I have very nice recordings of these albums at 192/24 that I like a lot. In this release, I was looking forward to getting them without record playback noise and more natural dynamics. I had always hoped that, at some point, they’d release all of their early, pre-Revolver albums, at at least 96/24 from the original , some 4 track masters.
I accidentally let an Apple Music trial continue after it expired so it’s what I’m stuck with for now. Sadly, a significant portion of these albums are 48khz like Yesterday.
Its just disappointing. It would seem to be that simultaneous sampling of the original mono and stereo masters, before RIAA or any other EQ or limiting for pressing the record, at the highest rate/bits available like 768/32 and Quad DSD simultaneously then downsampling to 96/24 would be relatively straightforward publish/sell. Skip the remastering/mixing. I don’t care that much about the new masters. I was satisfied with the old ones, as I’m sure many are.
