Am I the only one that is horrified being under a jacked up car? I’m not a mechanic by trade or school but always do all my own car work. I’m currently rebuilding my trans and hate being under it because it doesn’t sit far off the ground. It’s currently on 4 4ton jack stands and I always leave a jack under it but when it’s time to put the trans back I’ll be needing the jack. For reference too the floor is about 20 inches off the ground.
Every time I put a vehicle on stands, I give it a real good jolt with my hip from the side of the car. If it stays, it’s good. If it goes… gotta re-do it. ( :
But yeah, it’s an uncomfortable mental feeling. Knowing that a couple of cast iron teeth are keeping it from falling on you.
Project Farm did a video on jack stands. He torture tested them and most of them were able to stand up to like 30,000 pounds or something crazy?
