Just curious to know whether anyone in the sub agrees with this stance. All the debate about Omega this, Tudor that, Longines the other goes way over my head. I couldn’t care less about branding, heritage, or price point. Either I like a watch or I don’t (e.g. all divers).

If I don’t love it aesthetically, it has to interest me from a functional standpoint. The next three watches I buy will likely be a SKMEI binary watch (costing about £20) simply because the idea of a binary dial fascinates me; a 1970s-style LED digital (about £50) because they look so badass; and the Timex Marlin reissue (about £150) because it’s beautiful and I don’t own an auto yet.

I’d buy a Bulova Computron reissue, but only because I can’t find a good homage and they aren’t crazy expensive. My least favourite watch in my collection was also the most expensive (a Citizen EcoDrive E111 Titanium). My favourite (at the moment) is a mystery 1970s Esperanto that I bought for £25 on eBay. My go-to brands are Casio and Timex. I’m a bit obsessed with HMTs too - and I don’t care if they’re AM. In fact, I love a good mod.

I wouldn’t knowingly buy complete trash, but I don’t see myself ever spending more than £500 on a single piece either. I imagine this thread will cop a lot of flak from watch bros with five- or six-figure collections, but that’s fine. It’s not them I’m interested in hearing from; you do you, and I wish you only joy. But if you share my ideas, I’d be curious to hear about it. Thanks.
