Help settle a small argument, not going to post other names.
So Stephen Curry is basically the undisputed best 3 pointer of all time, but if we had to pick a number two surely we go with Ray, 40% 3%, 2973 3 pointers, was considered the GOAT before Curry and plenty of clutch ones. Thoughts?

Ray Allen will always have Game 6. Would have to pass him by a ton both in volume and % like Steph for anyone else to be considered over him.
Reggie and Dame are all-time shooters, but I would take Ray over them

99-02 he shot 43% from three, only was taking 6 a game
he led the league in TS in 01 at 61% lmao
that’s also why it’s really important to look at relative to the league averages, the early 2000s to mid 2000s were nasty ball, so even like a 57% ts was huge at that time
Dame’s been at a season of 64.5% ts, but his highest TS+ was 111, Ray’s was 118

I’m sure I’ll get downvoted to oblivion but Ray is overrated as a 3pt shooter. He would go on epic cold stretches and would just keep chucking. His training, his form and his pedigree was top notch. But he was a very streaky to me. As a Celtics fan, I genuinely wanted Pierce with the ball for a clutch shot not Ray. (Yes of course I know about his winning shot for Miami)

People leave off that a good player was 46% from the floor. If you shot 33% from deep you were a 3 point shooter. The offense was built around the paint with the jumper to keep you honest. It wasn’t only about practice, the coaching staff wanted the team shooting 60% in the paint shots. The opportunity to take the shots was limited as well. Ever see a guy cold take a couple of threes and miss them then hit 4 in the 4th. Very few had rhythm at the deep shot. Plus when 3 pointers did make it to college it was top of key. Lots of great college 3 point shooters couldn’t hit 3s in the pros their first few years.
